The story of Mother's Sacrifice during the Japan Earthquake True or Hoax?
When I open my Facebook wall this morning, this is the post shared by a friend that caught my attention:
The flow of the story is quite touching, which even intrigue me to dig further information about it but since I was only using a cellphone when I was first reading the story, I found difficulties on finding the real source of this "true story" as they said.
When I have had a chance to open the internet on my computer, I searched again this story and I have seen the picture in bigger size. This is the close-up of the attached photo:
Please read again the story. Does this picture matches with what is being illustrated in the story. Is the child on this photo looks like 3 MONTHS OLD? Is this the photo that the story refers to or it is just an illustration?
I surf the web further and I found an article with the same content as above entitled, China Earthqauke: How A Mother Saved Her Son(an Emotional Story) and when I made a photo-match search, I found the "Mother Love in Earthquake" Wins Photo Contest and the photo was captioned, "The photo "Mother Love in Earthquake" taken by Zou Sen wins the gold prize in War & Disaster News Singles in the 5th China International Press Photo (CHIPP) Contest held in Shanghai, China, from March 20 to 25, 2009." Here is the clearer copy of thepicture from China International Press Photo Contest.

According to Snopes.com, the above story began landing in inboxes weeks after a devastating earthquake Sichuan province of China on 12 May 2008. In September 2011, the online-circulated account was updated to relocate the tale to Japan and reference by the the horrific quake that rocked the eastern part of that island on 11 March 2011.
